RevActe: Tunisian cities networking for climate and energy transition
MedCities participates in Rev'Acte project, under the leadership of the National Agency for Energy Management in Tunisia and coordinated by Ide-e, which aims at building the capacities of local authorities for the implementation of energy transition.
On the 4th April, representatives of the cities of Tunis, Sfax, Sousse, Nabeul, Bizerte, Mahdia and Tozeur gathered in the city of Sousse for the first workshop of Rev'Acte network, which brings together the 7 municipalities in order to facilitate the capitalisation and dissemination of their pilot initiatives, the transfer of skills and the exchange of experiences and tools among the technical and political representatives.
The network will work on 4 thematic areas: urban mobility; public lighting; eco-construction and energy efficiency of buildings and alternative energy production. The first meeting aimed at identifying the state of the art in each municipality by sharing finalised and ongoing projects and their results and tools as well as draw the priority axes of intervention by highlighting the motivations, objectives and needs for technical assistance and training.
The project foresees the creation of working groups, the organisation of trainings, seminars and of a series of regional study visits for the exchanges of practices and experiences as well as the implementation of short-scale technical assistance actions. Funded by the French Environment & Energy Management Agency - ADEME and the Swiss Platform REPIC (Renewable Energy, Energy and Resource Efficiency Promotion in International Cooperation) the project was launched in January 2019 and will conclude in November 2020.
