Mediterranean Citizens Assembly Foundation: Youth in the Mediterranean activity report (2019)

The Mediterranean Citizens Assembly Foundation (MCAF) dedicated its annual meeting to talk about youth in the nowadays Mediterranean context. MedCities took part of the conversations and discussions as an active actor and an Euro-Mediterranean institution.

The MCA Foundation celebrates its VIII Meeting ‘Youth in the Mediterranean' raising a great interdisciplinary debate on the situation of the different Mediterranean countries. MedCities, trought its Secretary General, Josep Canals, was present among other institutions and particulary young people, specialists, public institutions and civil society. The engaged public met in Barcelona on November 2019 with the firm purpose of analyzing, diagnosing and proposing dynamics among all the peoples of the Mediterranean. The objective was to generate proposals to improve the current situation of young people and build an equitable, sustainable and inclusive reality.

More than 123 participants from 18 Mediterranean countries participated in this event held at the headquarters of the Institut Europeu de la Mediterrània (IEMed) organized in different discussion groups in the format of agora. Issues such as culture and identity; economy, mobility and climate change; empowerment and citizenship; and new technologies and democracy in the Mediterranean were aproached.
