EDITORIAL

Time to prepare new projects

2015 will be a year to identify needs and create potential partnerships to the different Call for Projects that will be launched during the coming months. The different EU programs are currently being drafted and approved and the first calls will take place during 2015 and early 2016. The objective of MedCities is to promote the construction of such partnerships and the identification of projects. This work started in the seminar of dissemination of City Development Strategies organised by CIEDES Foundation in Malaga last September 15th. This Seminar allowed identifying needs and challenges that cities want to face through multi-partnership projects to be presented to international calls. Multi-partnership projects are an opportunity for cities not only to obtain additional funds for their city projects but also to implement them in an innovative way which fosters capacity building and learning from others that are undergoing the same situations. In the Seminar that will follow the General Assembly of MedCities, which will take place in Izmir on November 13th-14th, these efforts will continue. During the year 2015, MedCities will work for cooperation among its members to elaborate proposals, always trying to offer useful assistance and responses to the needs of our cities. We are very looking forward the next General Assembly of the network next month in Izimr, in our yearly opportunity to meet our members and partners.
