Iberoamerican Center for Urban Strategic Development (CIDEU)
The Iberoamerican Center for Urban Strategic Development (CIDEU) is an association integrated by 132 members, from which 109 are Iberoamerican cities, 21 collaborative institutions and two honor members: the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development (AECID) and the Iberoamerican General Secretariat (SEGIB).
It was constituted in 1993 in Barcelona, where its General Secretariat is based, in order to share the benefits from urban strategic planning follow-up and it is a project associated to the Iberoamerican Summit of Heads of State and Government.
The member cities work as a network to improve the quality of life of more than 120 million people, and share knowledge form strategic urban projects. CIDEU promotes economic and social development of Iberoamerican cities, through strategic projects and promotes debate around urban strategies.
CIDEU has an important Database of urban strategic projects permanently updated in order to facilitate urban knowledge management. It also has a Corporative University which offers on-line training, seminars and meetings to improve and enrich the professional profiles of those technicians working in urban strategic projects in Iberoamerica. More than 400 professionals are attached to CIDEU through the University. It also offers technical assistance and access to methodologies, technologies and services, through a network of experts in urban projects.
