Knowledge Transfer Centers (KTCs)
MedCities has two Knowledge Transfer Centers based in the cities of Al Fayhaa (Lebanon) and Sfax (Tunisia).
Knowledge transfer is an important task of the MedCities network in order to disseminate the concept of strategic urban planning; advance the methodological tools existing for the elaboration and implementation of strategic plans; and promote the exchange of experiences between cities that are elaborating or implementing strategies.
Alfayhaa and Sfax developed their City Development Strategy in the past and have a strong background in strategic planning in the Mediterranean.
Their mission is to identify Best Practices in the implementation of projects so other cities can learn from them in a P2P learning approach, and disseminate and promote city strategic thinking in the region. They are responsible to keep the debates active and expand the network of practitioners and experts of the MedCities network.
Apart from these common objectives, KTC Sfax and KTC Al-Fayhaa work on the dissemination of the City Development Strategies approach in their sub-region (Maghreb and Middle East) to those cities interested in undertaking their own strategy and provide support to the cities that are implementing their strategic plan.
Based at the Municipality of Sfax, it is the responsible for the dissemination and awareness of urban strategic planning in the Maghreb.
Based at the Urban Community of Al Fayhaa, it is the responsible for the dissemination and awareness of urban strategic planning in the Middle East.
